The Spade fish are now making a strong showing at the Chesapeake Bay Light Tower and so are the boats. Over the last two days I have seen plenty of nice fish along with boats hitting the tower and each other. What a mess! Click on the following pictures for a better view.
Both days there was one or two Boat operators who were clueless. On Friday I watched one Grady White attempt to set the anchor at least a half a dozen times. On his final attempt he misses again and gets aggreviated and runs across my bow and several others snagging the anchor of the 20 some foot boat fishing on my starboard as the clueless Grady goes across my bow and down my port side at 10 knots or so as the two anchors come tight. Now I have a 20 some foot torpedo being launched at the side of the Anna Lynn. The guys on the Torpedo quickly start their boat and go full reverse and luckily for everyone a couple of the Grady's passengers were paying much more attention than the operator. Thankfully the Torpedo pulled up several feet short and the Grady comes up with a few apoligies from the crew but nothing from the guy sitting at the helm. (Notice I never use the word Captain in this account of events) All I can say if you are out at the Tower is be careful and be very aware of what the other guy is up too.
The fish are biting the normal fresh clam on a red hook and are providing the Anglers on the Anna Lynn with some awesome pullage. We caught our limit each day with fish over eight pounds. It also looks like the offshore fishing is about to get going. Like everything else this year it is just taking longer to get it kicked off. I have a few days left for Spades or offshore this week. I have this Tuesday afternoon and Weds.is open for two trips (6- Noon) or (noon-6) or a whole day offshore. I have the same schedule open next Sunday July 1 and a noon-6 on July 2nd. Call me at 804-445-5155 for more info. (leave a message and i will get back to you when I get back in)
Wow, nice catch and great pics. I would've never called that fella at the helm a Capt. either but I would've probably used some other choice words. Good luck fishing this week.

Could not imagine a better time than going out and filling the box with a limit of big Spades Pound for pound the best fighters I have ever had the opportunity to land. Wack em and stack em, but save some luck for the VA Beach Tuna Tourney. Thanks for all the great trips Capt.
