The Anna Lynn managed to bring Tuna back to the dock each of the three days she fished last week. The bite is not as strong as it was the week before but I expect the bite to resume inshore of 30 fathoms any day now. The Bite further out has been marlin the last several days with a mix of Mahis and Wahoos thrown in. I would like to congratulate Captain Chris on the Game On for his first Marlin release a 250 lb Blue.
How quickly things can change offshore. The boats went from nothing to some nice catches overnight. It started the end of last week and now the summer bite is here. On Sunday the boat Episode caught what looks to be a New Virginia State Record Blue-fin Tuna that weighed 573 lbs! Click on the following pictures for a better view.
We still have our string of Spade limits going so far this year. The bite was excellent again Sunday with the normal Light Tower Heavy boat Traffic despite the NE 15 to 20 Knot winds but on Monday the Fish had shrunk! I had been hearing from other Captains about the smaller fish but we had been managing good catches up until Monday. The Spade fish are now making a strong showing at the Chesapeake Bay Light Tower and so are the boats. Over the last two days I have seen plenty of nice fish along with boats hitting the tower and each other. What a mess! Click on the following pictures for a better view.
It looks like we will get to fish these trips as the weather is not calling for any big blows. I have talked to several people who are crushing the Spades at the CLT.
