How quickly things can change offshore. The boats went from nothing to some nice catches overnight. It started the end of last week and now the summer bite is here. We still have our string of Spade limits going so far this year. The bite was excellent again Sunday with the normal Light Tower Heavy boat Traffic despite the NE 15 to 20 Knot winds but on Monday the Fish had shrunk! The Spade fish are now making a strong showing at the Chesapeake Bay Light Tower and so are the boats. Over the last two days I have seen plenty of nice fish along with boats hitting the tower and each other. What a mess! Click on the following pictures for a better view.
It looks like we will get to fish these trips as the weather is not calling for any big blows. I have talked to several people who are crushing the Spades at the CLT.
I left Reedville at 9AM on the 14th and headed to the beach. The ride was not to bad as the winds were at the Anna Lynn's stern most of the trip. I arrived at the beach to large east swells rolling through Rudee Inlet but the weathermans promise of lighter winds were for a great Spade trip on Friday. I had already cancelled my trip for that afternoon but was looking forward to getting out to the Chesapeake Light Tower Friday Morning.
